About us

You didn't move to Vancouver just to "get by." You moved here to build a life where you feel secure, successful, and at home. But once you land, the reality of the Canadian system hits: banking acronyms that sound like a foreign language, a housing market that feels like a secret club, and the constant "lack of Canadian experience" trap.

NewcomerSetup.ca was built to give you the map. We are a community dedicated to decoding every category of your new life in Canada.

What We Cover (The 5 Pillars of Success):
We don't just talk about one thing. In our group and on our walks, we share "survival strategies" across:

Money: Mastering the hidden rules of Canadian banking, credit scores, and tax-saving accounts (TFSA/RRSP)

Housing: Navigating leases, avoiding rental scams, and understanding your rights as a tenant

Career: Breaking out of "survival jobs," mastering the hidden job market, and translating your skills for Canadian employers

Essentials: The best ways to set up your phone, healthcare, and ID without overpaying

☕️ Connection: Finding your tribe in a city that can sometimes feel lonely

Our Signature Event: The Saturday Coffee Walk

Screen time is good, but face-to-face connection is better. Every Saturday, we host casual, low-pressure walks along the Coal Harbour seawall.

Meet: 10:00 AM at the Olympic Cauldron.

Walk: A 45-minute stroll to share wins, vent about struggles, and swap tips.

Who This Is For:
Whether you have been in Vancouver for 2 days or 2 years, if you are looking for zero-jargon advice and an ambitious community that wants to see you win, this is your new home.

The First Step:
Hit the "Join" button to RSVP for our next walk.

Let's get you set up the right way. See you on the seawall.
