Come and burn the Halloween candy calories.
Near and rising high above Georgia’s mountain town of Clayton, Pinnacle Knob offers some remarkable vistas from several enormous, sun-drenched rock outcroppings near its summit. The views are dramatic, stretching to Black Rock Mountain on the near horizon, and the southern end of the Smoky Mountains in the far distance.
And, the journey there does not disappoint. A solid climb to the summit will be refreshed with a couple waterfalls. Early into the hike, we will pass Martin Creek Falls and then later on we will pause at the double-tiered cascades of Martin Creek Falls. We will have lunch/snack at Pinnacle Knob and enjoy the views noted above before heading back the same route.
Let’s meet at the Clayton Ingles at 9:30am and head out together by 9:45am for the short ride to the trailhead. There is limited parking at the trail head.
This is not a beginners hike and the pace is brisk. Bring plenty of water.
Total distance: Approximately 9 miles
