Toccoa Swinging Bridge to Long Creek Falls on the BMT (Out & Back)

We always do this hike at least once a year and summer is the best time to see the falls at its best. Copying from Sean's hike in 2023

If you're new to our group, please note that this is NOT A BEGINNERS HIKE. It involves significant climbs and descents, but we will be staying on the BMT; no bushwhacking planned.

We start at a parking lot that's near the Swinging Bridge over the Toccoa River, going past Little John Dick? and Big John Dick? Mountains (who comes up with these names?) and work our way south on the BMT to Long Creek Falls, where we will stop for lunch and then double back.

Let's try to maintain somewhere close to a 3 mph average pace. That will be no small task for some of us (myself included). Some in our group are a bit faster, and some a bit slower. Try to stay with one of these two sub-groups. Please download AllTrails app and download the map (or something similar that tracks your location), it's a good idea to stay in close proximity to someone who is. We all look out for each other.

Make sure to bring plenty of fluid (electrolyte water or gatorade are good options) and a light lunch or some snacks. I recommend hiking poles and gloves.
