This Saturday, we'll sneak up on Coosa Bald from the west, from Mulky Gap along the Duncan Ridge Trail. We'll have a nice warm-up climb to start but saving the big one for getting up Coosa Bald about mile 5 to 6. Total just under 12 miles and 4,000' vertical. More climbing on the way out than back, but a nice little warming climb up Buckeye Knob both ways! We'll be above 3,000' most of the way, so with the leaves off the trees, we should have incredible views to each side (not to mention howling wind)!

Weather looks good with temp ranging from 45F to 62F, so bring some layers and high energy snacks. Hydration still important. You can burn lots of calories hiking and shivering too! Not much rain chance (at the moment) but bring your rain jacket and pants for windbreakers! Gloves, hat, scarf not amiss!

Usual manifold wilderness perils, but you needn't worry about bugs, snakes, or heatstroke! We'll keep up a good pace (2.75-3 mph) but out and back, so if you don't make it to the top, we'll sweep you up on the rebound. Nevertheless, be prepared to get your own self back to Mulky Gap in case everybody else succumbs. Organizer has no special training or superpowers and He and Hike Georgia are Not Responsible for You. Rain or shine (or sleet, snow, dark of night, etc.).
