It's that time of year now when all of the fitness centers blow out their advertising budgets trying to get you to sign up for something that they make very hard to cancel. DON'T DO IT!

All of our hikes burn at least 1000 calories and I've burned almost 300K calories in about three years just by hiking. That's equivalent to about 550 big Costco muffins or 15 dozen every year. Good luck trying to burn that many calories in a gym, you'll die of boredom before you get anywhere close to that amount. And if you think the gym is a good workout, wait until you see what a bitch Mother Nature can be.

Join one of our adventures and you'll quickly find that hikers are lot more real than those posers in the gym, and that the view of a waterfall or a mountain vista is far more appealing than that fat guy on the treadmill in front of you. And OMG, let's not compare the fresh pine scent of the forest to whatever the hell that is in a gym.

Maybe the best part about hiking is the discipline that comes with it - you don't quit when you get tired, you quit when you get back to where you started. And the possibility of being eaten by a bear is a much stronger motivator than that personal trainer in the gym, even if he is hot as hell. And don't forget, there are no paid memberships or monthly fees required for hiking. The outdoors are yours to enjoy, so take advantage of all that it has to offer.

Let's get started with a moderate hike - Amicalola Falls to the Hike Inn. It's a good workout, but not overly difficult.

If you haven't joined us before, please be advised of the ground rules. You should have a modicum of hiking experience, or at least good conditioning from another activity. No-shows are a no-no!
