Trampas Lakes Backpack

Details

Details:
This is one of my favorite hikes in NM! It will take us up the Rio de las Trampas up to two pristine lakes surrounded by epic peaks and astounding scenery. There is a natural jetty between both lakes in the basin where we will set up base camp. From there we will have many options for day hikes including: Quemado Falls, San Leanardo Lake, and Hidden Lake. For the ambitious peak baggers there are Sheepshed, North Truchas and Middle Truchas Peaks.

The plan is to meet at the trailhead (Trampas Campground) at approximately 4:00 pm on Friday, June 6th. There we will set up camp, eat some good food, and hang out a bit. We will make an effort to get an early start Saturday morning so that we can make it to the lakes by late morning to allow us time to do some further exploration. If you just want to kick back and do some fishing thats fine too! On Sunday it will be eachothers individual decision whether to head back or stay another night. Personally I plan to bag the said peaks and stay Sunday night before heading out on Monday.

This is the trail description below from alltrails.com (copy/paste). Please review it and critically evaluate your fitness level and ability to be at high altitude for 3 days. It is approximately 5.9 miles (one way), with a 2526ft elevation gain.
