New River NC camping/Kayaking
Details
Super excited to be assist-hosting another kayak trip with one of our newer members!
Some of you may know, some of you may not, Arlene Connolly was on my last trip where she and I conjured up this gem! These waters are known to her, as the following description is also from Arlene. THANKS ARLENE!
Come join us the weekend of June 19-23 at the New River Campground Drive-in access and Campground walk-in access (see attached pic! You need to book soon, as sites are limited and go quickly. I believe there are only walk-in primitive sites available at this time. Bring a wagon, I will have one also to assist where/who I can. Sorry (not sorry) I, Angie, definitely just took one of the last RV sites available •If you have to have, or want power, please call/text me 334-524-1363. There are some options I have up my sleeve.

***Use the drop down box to narrow campground to 221 access walk-in campground.
We will be arriving Friday afternoon and paddling various sections of the New River Sat, Sun, and Mon. They will be 6-12 mile sections with mostly Class I riffles. Some sections are rocky, and others are deeper. Boats with rudders are not recommended as they can get caught on the rocks and break off. A 11-14 ft hard-shell recreation boat is perfect.
Saturday night potluck. Bring your favorite dish, plate, bowl, and utensils.
A rain jacket, and easy-up in case of rain are recommended. Wearing a life jacket is mandatory for this trip. No drinking while on the river, but afterwards is ok.
I have also heard that there are some good bike trails in the area. If you are a biker, please feel free to bring your bike, I will be in search of some of those trails for sure!
Look forward to seeing you all there!
