There will be Saturday practices only until the time changes on Sunday, March 10. After that we will also practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays, on the beach at 5:45 PM.
Saturday practices will be about 2 hours. Weekday practices about 90 minutes.
The goal of the novice practice season is to get novice paddlers ready to race the Novice Short Course race at Crystal Pier in San Diego on May 11, and the other five Novice races after that.
Those races are about 5 miles long.
In the novice practices we will break down the stroke into each part, do drills to make the stroke part of your muscle memory, have you practice in each seat, including steering, and then by the end of April, paddle a 5-mile piece without a rest.
Our goal is to teach you to paddle without injury, feel excited about being in a canoe with five other paddlers working as one, and when we end the practice, think about what you can do to improve and be anxious to get in the canoe and on the water again.
One with the Canoe. One with the Crew. One with the Blue.
We look forward to seeing you on the water!
