What we’re about
Newport Outdoor Group (Nogs for short) offers evening/weekend events in and around Newport, some further afield. We meet on Monday and Thursday evenings and also do some Saturday/Sunday walks. We also have walking weekends away every month.
As well as walking we also do other outdoor activities and social events. We welcome any age but anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. We invite people to try us for 2 or 3 events before paying a full year's subs of £15. Although Meetup is fairly new to us the group has been going since 1960! You'll notice on the Meetup events calendar that only a few people respond (that's because a lot of our members haven't yet joined Meetup) but on a Monday night we regularly get 15- 20 people. Come along and give us a try!!
Each year, the group organises two Challenge Walks in conjunction with the Brecon Mountain Rescue Team, the Black Dragon Challenge Walk (BDCW) in April, and The Beat The Beacons Challenge Walk (BEAT) in September. Each event has 3 different route options.
