Come and join us in Newton Abbot town centre as the town rings in the festive season with the activation of its Christmas Lights. This is always a sight worth seeing and the array of lights seems to grow larger and more impressive by the year.

The lights will be turned on at 5:30pm outside Newton Abbot Clock Tower by Father Christmas - how nice of the old chap to pop by and do the honours... The switch-on will be preceded by a Christmas Parade from The Avenue to the Clock Tower, beginning at 5:00pm, if you fancy a walk up through the town beforehand.

Back at the Clock Tower, there will be street food available and entertainment elsewhere including stiltwalkers from 4-6pm, in addition to lots more if you decide to head into town earlier in the day such as balloon modelling, fireside selfies and Taiko Drummers. A full itinerary of the events can be found here;

We will aim to meet at 5pm on the corner of Austins Department Store - well within view of the Tower but hopefully not in the throngs of the madding crowd! Once the formalities and fireworks (I'm sure there will be fireworks!) have finished, we can think about getting some food and I'm happy to go with what other people are feeling like doing, either a meal or just some drinks in one of the local pubs / clubs. Don't worry if you arrive late or just want to join us for some food afterwards.

It goes without saying that this is all weather permitting and to dress sensibly for a late November evening. Hopefully, though, if this event is anything like the last time I went then it should be a fun occasion showcasing the town at its festive best.
