Coffee & Wander around Decoy & Newton Abbot town centre parks

Join us for an enjoyable and varied morning exploring some of the local parks in and around Newton Abbot town centre. The town is blessed with a range of green spaces and nature hotspots within a stone's throw of its urban heart. So why not explore the best of them in one fell swoop?

Our plan will be to meet at Newton Abbot Railway Station and venture down through historic Courtenay Park, featuring ponds, Grandstands and greenery galore. To the south of the town, we'll then reach Forde Park, where we can stop off for a bite to eat at Forde Park Pavillion cafe, a community initiative in a revamped building offering employment opportunities to adults with additional needs.

Fully refreshed, we'll then continue on to Decoy Country Park, a former clay quarry now transformed into a local nature reserve and wildlife haven. There are a number of routes we can take around the park, ranging from the 1 mile 'blue' trail around Decoy Lake to the 2 mile 'green' trail exploring the full extent of the park's offering. We can decide on which trail to take on the day depending on how active we're all feeling and whether everyone's coffee has gone down yet!

Following our circuit of Decoy, we'll make our way back towards the town and finish where we began at the station, potentially via the 2 earlier parks if people fancy revisiting. This is an ideal opportunity for members new and old to explore some of the excellent green spaces on Newton Abbot's doorstep.
