They came, they saw, they conquered — and they did it all in under two weeks. What was it about New York City that made it the perfect launching pad for the biggest band in the world? It's time to explore how The Beatles' early interactions with the city helped shape their American breakthrough and lasting cultural impact.

Join New York Adventure Club as we examine the cultural and historical backdrop that made New York City a pivotal player in The Beatles' rise to fame in the United States, through a detailed commentary on the band’s most iconic moments in the city.

Led by Robert Begley and David Turk — dynamic speakers and experts in both NYC history and Beatles lore — this educational virtual experience will include:

  • An analysis of The Ed Sullivan Show performance and how a televised appearance became a cultural milestone
  • A survey of key NYC locations, including Central Park, Carnegie Hall, and Shea Stadium, and their role in shaping The Beatles' American narrative
  • A discussion around media and fan interactions, from press conferences to public appearances, that influenced public perception
  • A deeper look at New York’s unique media landscape, and how it amplified The Beatles’ early U.S. presence
  • Commentary on the lasting cultural impact of the band’s NYC chapter, and how it helped define a generation

Afterward, we’ll have a Q&A with Robert and David — any and all questions are welcomed and encouraged!

About Robert Begley
Raised in crowded New York City dwellings, Robert Begley always heard The Beatles’ music playing in bedrooms, on the porch, and on fire escapes. Inspired by their storytelling power, he built a career around helping others do the same. Today, as founder of Speaking With Purpose LLC, Robert trains executives, entrepreneurs, and immigrants to craft compelling presentations that inspire action. He has spoken to audience acclaim around the world and on national television. Robert’s upcoming book, Voices of Reason, blends timeless rhetorical lessons with modern leadership insights. Since founding the New York Heroes Society in 2004, Robert has championed excellence, and now turns that spotlight on the Beatles.

About David Turk
A broomstick, a hairbrush, and a couple of pencils once transformed David Turk’s childhood basement into Shea Stadium. Seeing The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show — on his ninth birthday — was a life-changing moment, as it was for millions of others in his generation. A licensed New York City tour guide, lifelong hospitality professional, and educator in catering and event planning, David brings an infectious passion for both his hometown and the Fab Four. His work in the culinary world has been featured in The New York Times, New York Magazine, and publications across the country. Outside the kitchen and beyond the tour bus, David is also known for his deep commitment to community service. A proud East Village resident, he knows the ins and outs of the city like few others — and looks forward to sharing his love for all things Beatles and all things New York.
