From the bold and beautiful to just plain bizarre, the history of architecture encompasses a vast number of unique works throughout the world. Though whatever the design, architecture not only ensures a building's structural integrity, but also acts as a reinforcer of its cultural standing and representation of the ideas and activities that take place inside its walls. From palaces and theaters, to factories and apartment houses, it's time to explore some of the most incredible architectural wonders still standing.

Join New York Adventure Club for a three-part series where we'll virtually scour the globe to uncover some of the most interesting artist homes and studios from around the world. In Part Two, we'll examine incredible homes and studios of artists throughout the world from the period of the late 19th century through WWII with a focus on new artistic forms and technologies.

Led by architectural historian David V. Griffin of Landmark Branding, this digital showcase featuring a selection of unique structures will include:

  • Studios that reflect new trends in the production of art
  • Beautiful homes, such as the magnificent palace of a popular Impressionist in Madrid
  • An old Dutch Colonial cottage that serves as a museum of one of America’s earliest woman photographers
  • An in-depth look at each building's construction, context, and current status, with a focus on properties preserved and open to the public

Afterward, we'll have a Q&A with David — any and all questions about these unique buildings are welcomed and encouraged!
Can't make it live? Don't worry, you'll have access to the full replay through one week after the entire series concludes.

" I love to go inside of artists’ homes and try to have some understanding of what makes them “tick”, why they paint as they do. What influences, what are they trying to say, how did they live circumstantially, spiritually, emotionally and socially? Surroundings say a lot about a person’s intentions, sometimes. I have visited a number of the places that David speaks of and it was great to hear his point of view on them. All of the visiting I did was with a tour, but I know I learned more with David’s tour tonight. I really appreciate that. I am not an artist but I am always drawn to their worlds. They often see what the rest of society does not and I appreciate that. Thank you very much." -Sharon
"Learned a lot about the subject matter. Definitely hoping to view some of these in person, so thanks for the added documents." -Milan
"Totally enjoyed" -Carol
"It is nice to see their houses and to learn something new about each artist" -Joel
