What made this Midwest city such an architectural powerhouse, one whose magnificent skyline has cast its shadow across global architecture? It's time for a special look at the sites and landmarks that define the Windy City.

Join New York Adventure Club for a three-part series on the history of Chicago architecture, where we'll examine the buildings and structures that helped define the broader American architecture movement. In Part One: The Chicago School, we’ll take a look at the initial stirrings of what went on to become The Chicago School — an attempt to create an architecture that suited the new skyscrapers and suburbs of a rapidly changing urban landscape.

Led by architectural historian David V. Griffin of Landmark Branding, this digital showcase featuring a selection of unique structures will include:

• A brief overview of the Windy City before the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 and its oldest architectural survivors
• The effects of the fire on urban planning and development
• A look at Victorian Chicago structures
• The rise of the skyscraper and its unique architectural style
• A discussion around Frank Lloyd Wright and the Prairie School

Afterward, we'll have a Q&A with David — any and all questions about these unique buildings are welcomed and encouraged!
