On a small private island in the middle of a Hudson Valley lake sits one of American architecture’s greatest treasures: an extraordinary Frank Lloyd Wright-designed residence, considered one of the most ambitious homes ever built from Wright’s original plans. For one special day, this private oasis will open its shores for an intimate brunch combining architecture, natural beauty, chef-prepared fare, and live music.

Join New York Adventure Club for an unforgettable private brunch on Petra Island, an 11-acre private island in Lake Mahopac that is home to two residences connected to Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural legacy and accessible only by boat.

Hosted by the island's owners, this exclusive half-day experience will include:

• A scenic pontoon boat ride to and from Petra Island
• A guided architectural tour of the island’s two residences: the Chahroudi Cottage — completed under Wright’s supervision and visited by him during his lifetime — and the monumental Massaro House, later built by Joe Massaro from Wright’s original plans
• An array of savory and sweet brunch fare prepared by a personal chef, designed to enjoy while mingling throughout the property
• Unlimited coffee and Prosecco, along with a tea bar
• Live musical entertainment throughout the experience
• Free rein to explore the island at your own pace, with opportunities to stroll the grounds, take photographs, and relax by the water

• 10:30-11am: Boat rides to Petra Island
• 11am–2pm: Guided architectural visit, brunch, and free time to explore

Donna studied Culinary Arts Management at The Art Institute of New York City and operated her own café for over 15 years. She thoughtfully prepares the healthy meals and nourishing food experiences throughout the day.

• Age: Guests must be 21 or older to participate
• Transportation: Petra Island is accessible only by boat, departing from the private Petra Island Tours dock at 883 South Lake Blvd., Mahopac, NY
• Boat Ride: Transportation is aboard a partially covered, New York State-regulated pontoon boat operated by a New York State-licensed captain; the ride is approximately eight minutes each way
• Public Transit: Guests without a vehicle are encouraged to take Metro-North’s Harlem Line from Grand Central Terminal to Croton Falls Station and arrange for a taxi or Uber to and from the Petra Island Tours dock
• Parking: Free parking is available at the starting point; if the parking area is full, additional parking is available at 11 Clark Place
• Dietary Restrictions: Please email petraislandtours[at]gmail[dot]com with any food allergies or dietary restrictions
• Photography: Photography and videography are permitted throughout the experience
• Mobility & Accessibility: Guests should be comfortable boarding and exiting a pontoon boat, walking on outdoor pathways, and climbing approximately 22 stairs from the dock to the main house
• Footwear: High heels, spiked heels, and shoes with slippery soles are not permitted
• Animals: Dogs are not permitted on the boat or Petra Island
• Smoking: Smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere on Petra Island or at the dock
• Weather: In the event of severe weather, the experience may be rescheduled
• Itinerary: Exact timing and order of activities are subject to change
• Waiver: Participation requires acknowledgment of the operator’s liability waiver
• Organizer: This experience is operated by Petra Island, which has allocated a limited number of spots to New York Adventure Club
