What we're about

We're the largest tennis Meetup group on Earth, and the most active one in the greater New York City metropolitan area, so if you love tennis or if you just want to try it out, you're in the right place!

Every week (weather permitting), we're on the courts playing tennis and whether you want to play sets, just hit around and have fun, work on your game, or take lessons with a licensed'll find plenty of fun, friendly people interested in exactly the same thing.

Tennis is great fun, and meeting other tennis enthusiasts in tennis social settings just makes it better. A fan favorite for many are the BBQ Tennis Socials where we play tennis, eat, drink and repeat. The biggest social event of the year is when we attend the US Open and watch Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova up close and YES, take photos with these superstars! So come join us and make new friends, get some fresh air, exercise, and challenge your game week-to-week.

We host social tennis meetups every weekend, where we welcome everyone from advanced beginners to advanced players (matching like talents). It's a friendly, casual environment, and we all just want to have fun and enjoy the game we love.

Depending on the number of members who come out…courts can be crowded so playing doubles to make sure everyone gets as much court time is possible. And on very rare occasions, when we aren't able to get enough courts, we will take turns rotating on and off. The best opportunities for singles is early morning and late afternoon time slots.

Want to learn how to serve over 100 mph or take your game to the next level? Ask us to introduce you to the resident tennis pro. Private and Group lessons are available onsite.

I suggest using RPNY at 228 E 51st St # 2, New York, NY 10022 (212) 980-1555. Just tell them you are with NewYorkCityTennis.

Whether you attend our social tennis meetups or take lessons...all you need to bring is your racquet and whatever you'd like to eat or drink (water fountains on-site), we provide balls, clean courts and of course…other players. More details (including directions), are included in all our event announcements.

We also organize off-court events throughout the year to give our tennis members a chance to mingle during bad weather and to meet more cool friends, so check in often to stay updated. We look forward to seeing you all, both on the courts and off!

P.S. Every once in a while, someone joins the group for the sole or primary purpose of promoting their own projects, businesses, ventures, or ideology. Solicitation, spam and all kinds of advertising and promotion are expressly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, posting to the message board, direct emails to other members, and comments (in general) or on other members' profiles. We reserve the right to remove any member for violating this rule. If you feel that someone is engaging in any such behavior, please let us know and we will handle the situation immediately.
