NextGen Monthly Bird Outing - Dyke Marsh Wildlife Preserve

Join us on Saturday, November 7, 2026 from 8:00-11:00 AM for our monthly bird walk! This November, we will visit Dyke Marsh Wildlife Preserve, just south of Old Town Alexandria. As we near the end of fall migration, we can expect to see the arrival of waterfowl and potentially some late migrants passing through, along with our resident wetland and woodland species. Please bring your binoculars (if you have a pair), otherwise we will have some available to borrow.

We will meet in the south Mt. Vernon Trail parking lot (38.7789734,-77.0518844). We'll take a quick scan from the picnic area of the mudflats by Hunting Creek and the Potomac before walking down the Haul Road Trail, which is about 1.5 miles out and back. Terrain will be flat but the trail can be a little muddy so wear shoes you don't mind getting dirty.
