🥾 KILLINGTON – VERMONT FIVE PATCH CHALLENGE — MOUNTAIN #2! ⛰️🍁❄️
The Vermont Five adventure continues!
We’re heading back to Vermont to tackle #2 of the five 4,000-footers — KILLINGTON PEAK!
⛰️ Killington Peak — 4,235 ft
🥾 Bucklin Trail
📏 Approx. 7.4 miles round trip
⬆️ Approx. 2,450+ ft of elevation gain
The Bucklin Trail eases us in with a relatively gradual first couple of miles through the woods before the mountain starts making us earn that summit. The upper trail gets considerably steeper, culminating in a 0.2 short, steep, rocky scramble for the final push to the top.
And at the summit? Vermont 4,000-footer #2 goes in the books! 🙌
🍁 THE VERMONT FIVE PATCH CHALLENGE
Five mountains. Five Vermont 4,000-footers. One patch waiting at the finish.
✅ #1 — Mount Mansfield
🥾 #2 — Killington Peak — November 14
⬜ #3 — Mount Ellen
⬜ #4 — Camel’s Hump
⬜ #5 — Mount Abraham
November in the Green Mountains means we need to be prepared for changing conditions. Snow, ice, wind and cold are all possible, particularly at elevation.
Microspikes and appropriate cold-weather hiking gear should be carried, and we’ll make final decisions based on trail and weather conditions.
This is an easy-paced, supportive group hike. We hike together, take breaks as needed, and enjoy the journey—not just the summit.
🥾 Bring the Ten Essentials, plenty of water, food/snacks, layers, headlamp, traction, and appropriate footwear.
One mountain down. Four to go. Vermont Five #2 — here we come! 💚⛰️
