๐Ÿฅพ Vermont Five #3 โ€” Mount Ellen via Jerusalem Trail Turtle Style ๐Ÿ”๏ธ

Five mountains. Five Vermont 4,000-footers. One patch waiting at the finish. ๐ŸŽฏ

Weโ€™re continuing the Vermont Five with Mount Ellen, elevation 4,083 feet, using the Jerusalem Trail to the Long Trail for an out-and-back hike. ๐ŸŒฒโ„๏ธ

๐Ÿ“ Route: Jerusalem Trail โ†’ Long Trail โ†’ Mount Ellen
๐Ÿฅพ Distance: approximately 7.8 miles round trip
๐Ÿ“ˆ Elevation gain: approximately 2,588 feet

Because this is late November in Vermont, we should plan for real shoulder/winter conditions. โ„๏ธ๐Ÿฅถ Snow, ice, wind, and cold temperatures are all possible, and daylight will be limited.

Please come prepared with:
๐Ÿงฅ Warm layers
๐ŸŒง๏ธ Waterproof outerwear
๐Ÿงค Hat and gloves
๐Ÿ”ฆ Headlamp + spare batteries
๐ŸงŠ Traction (Microspikes)
๐Ÿฅข Poles, if you use them
๐Ÿ’ง Plenty of water
๐Ÿฅช Food and snacks
๐ŸŽ’ The usual Ten Essentials

Depending on snow depth right before the hike, snowshoes may also be necessary. โ„๏ธ

NOTE: TURTLE PACE IS 1 - 1.5 MPH. If you want to go faster, this is NOT the group for you.

As always, weโ€™ll hike at a supportive group pace, but everyone should be comfortable with the mileage, elevation gain, and potentially wintry conditions.

Weโ€™ll check the forecast, trail conditions, and access as we get closer and make any necessary adjustments. ๐ŸŒจ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘€
And weโ€™re not finished yet! ๐Ÿ˜„

Mount Abraham is planned for Sunday, November 22 and will be posted as a separate Vermont Five event. ๐Ÿ”๏ธโœจ

One more Vermont summit down, one step closer to the patch! ๐Ÿฅพ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ†
