Meditation 101: A Journey Inward
Details
Meditation doesn't need to be complicated. At its simplest, it begins by becoming present and turning our attention inward.
For this special beginner-friendly session, Barry and Yagna will guide us through a gentle progression from awareness of the breath to awareness of the body.
Barry will begin by introducing some of the fundamentals of meditation and answering a question many beginners have: What are we actually supposed to do when we meditate?
We will then begin with a short meditation focused simply on the breath. Rather than trying to stop our thoughts or empty the mind, we'll practice noticing the breath, recognizing when our attention has wandered, and gently returning to the present moment.
From there, Yagna, a Bellydance, Movement and Meditation Facilitator, will lead a 20-minute guided meditation. Continuing with the breath as an anchor, she will gently invite awareness inward, noticing sensations throughout the body and allowing areas of tension to soften.
Following the meditation, we'll have time for quiet
reflection and optional conversation about the experience.
Come as you are, get comfortable, and give yourself some time to pause, breathe and be.
