Guys, Message alert - change of venue for our Sunday afternoon game of cards This will now be at the SNUG & CELLAR BAR, definately inside as it is forecast to rain all afternoon Check out the Cellar , depending on Match timings etc I can't attach documents via meetup technolgy, so have included the rules of the game in text format after the event details ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lazy Sunday afternoon - drift on down town to the SNUG & CELLAR BAR around 4.30 pm, catch up with fellow expats in a relaxed Pub atmosphere. Andrea, the guy with a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his lips, is willing to teach and play (no money involved) with anyone who is interested. It's a very social game, played with the same light hearted banter and humour you see at a French Booles match in the square. Look forward to seeing you there Marjie H ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Burraco Burraco or uruguajan Canasta is a game of French cards. When it is played, the proper game would be the combination of 7 cards of the same seed in increasing or decreasing order [masked] or[masked]). It is played normally in 4 persons (forming pairs), with 108 French cards. The game The player to right of dealer shuffles the cards and prepares two small bunches of 11 cards (so called “Mazzetto”), capturing them from the bottom. They come one over the other, and the remaining cards are placed covered on the center of the table. In the meantime the dealer distributes 11 cards to every player in hour sense, placing finally one discovered on the table, and the remaining ones over those lasted to the player who has made the small bunch of cards. In the game the player must, at his turn, fish one card from the bunch to the center of the table, or to collect all the "mount of the refuse ones"; after having fished or harvest, he can "drop" the combine cards and/or "attach" the cards to the combinations of the own brace; and, after that, unload one. The combinations that can "be dropped" are: at least 3 cards of the same value and indifferently of any seed, or 3 cards of the same seed in scale. In order to form the combinations can be used a Joker or a card of value 2 (so called “Pinella”). Having 2 or more cards in sequence or of the same value, a Joker or a 2 can be added but placed in the beginning of the scale. Cannot be dropped combinations with more than 1 joker (except when the Jolly of the seed of the combination is put just in place of the 2, in which case can be used another Joker). The 1st objective of the game is that one of the players of the brace remains without cards, and then collects one of the small bunch of cards (so called “Mazzetto"), with which he will continue to play to the next turn. The 2nd objective is to form at least one combination of 7 or more cards (so called “Burraco”). The final objective is to remain without cards and “Close" (so called “Chiudere”), only after reaching the first 2 objectives. If nobody succeeds to close before, the game ends when 2 cards remain alone to fish. In order to get the small bunch of cards (Mazzetto) it must be dropped the last card, after attaching on the table all the others in his hands (playing the Mazzetto on the next turn); or he can collect the small bunch of cards without dropping 1 card (so called “Volo”) because all cards in his hands are combined on the games on the table (playing the Mazzetto immediately). The Mazzetto cannot be taken dropping a joker as the last card. The possible Burracos are: Burraco pure (without 2 or joker) Burraco dirty ( with 2 or joker) Burraco crazy (with seven 2) After the closing, the points are estimated for each couple of players, according to this score: the brace that has closed earns 100 points For the cards "dropped": every Burraco is worth 200 points if "pure", 100 points if dirty or crazy; every Joker is worth 30; every “Pinella” (2) are worth 20 points; every ACE is worth 15 points every KING, WOMAN, JACK, 10, 9 and 8 is worth 10 points; every 7,6,5,4 and 3 is worth 5 points; The cards remained in hand the points are negatively estimated (in reduction). The brace that has not taken yet the Mazzetto “pays” with 100 points in negative (if it has taken it but has succeeded to play it, sit will pay the points of the cards into the Mazzetto). It gains the brace that catches first up 2005 points.
