Last Chance Hotel - this fabulous location is soon to be destined to snow chains and rackets. It’s a relatively short, facile walk (8kms - 3hrs) well worth the journey time approx , 1 heure 30 min 58,7 km from Nice on D2566,

The massive Authion is a set of vertices close to the Southern Alps , combined with the Alps of Nice, located in the department of Alpes- Maritimes near the Col de Tende ( Franco-Italian
border).

It overlooks the nearby valleys and CAIROS Bévéra and is located on the edge of Mercantour National Park , north -east of Col de Turini .This massif , which rises to 2,080 m at Pointe des Trois Commons was considered a strategic position with its appearance of natural fortress as controlling valleys Vésubie and Roya , the latter being borrowed by the road linking Nice Piedmont ( to Turin) .

Walk at daybreak on air ridges that surround the plateau Authion and just forget for a moment the laws of gravity . The exhilarating feeling to dominate the area despite a modest altitude takes effect in hikers over how panoramic the path that culminates at Fort Redoubt , which occupies a century since the peak of the Three Towns ( Bollène , Breil -sur -Roya and Saorge ) . This site offers a view overlooking a clear day in the Alpes -Maritimes and even the Island of Beauty .
