About us
The Nichiren Shu Buddhist Sangha of Chicago started under the guidance of Ven. Kenjo Igarashi of the Nichiren Shu tradition. We are a growing community that seeks to reflect with one another the ways in which the practice and study of Buddhism can promote a positive impact in ourselves, our community, and our journey.
We hold free and open-to-the-public Buddhist Services on the 3rd Sundays of every month.
We hold free and open-to-the-public monthly meditation sessions on the last Tuesday of every month.

Shodaigyo is a meditation technique that alternates periods of silent meditation with chanting mantra. The mantra we chant is the Odaimoku (Namu myoho renge kyo).

Our meditation is dedicated to our fellow community members and leaders who have been rattled and shaken to the core by the invasion of our city. Come find your breath, and have a discussion about collective liberation
