Details of the Event:

I’ll be at Tea Zaanti (1944 South 1100 East, Salt Lake City) making Poetry in Italian on Saturday, August 24th, from 11am to 1:30pm, and I invite you to join I to discuss poetry and literature, share poetry and literature, make poetry with I, and practice speaking Italian :)

At 11am, I’ll have a table at Tea Zaanti and place an Italian flag on the table so people know where the group is. Once everyone has ordered their food or drinks, at about 11:15am I’ll start with an Open Circle where I’ll lay out some direction, and each person in the group can spend up to 1 minute introducing themSelves and share their intention in the event if they choose. After all have introduced themSelves, at about 11:30am, Opening Circle is over, and we can begin openly discussing about the main theme of Poetry and Literature, or anything that brings us joy to talk about :) I encourage people to speak Italian as much as they can, and speaking Italian is not required to join :)

After we’ve discussed poetry and literature, we can share some of our own poems or literature, or poems and literature of others we enjoy, from about 12:15 to 12:45. Then at 12:45, I offer the option of making a collaborative poem together as a group, or the option of making poetry individually, for about 20 minutes, with the prompt: What do you find funny? :) In the group version, we’d collaborate and decide on one thing the whole group finds funny, and starting with I and going to the next person, each person in the group would spend about 3 minutes contributing to the poem about what we find funny :)

From about 1:05 to 1:20 I invite people to share the poems they made individually, and I’ll share the final poem we made as a group :)
From about 1:20 to 1:30pm I’ll hold a Closing Circle to close out the event, where each person can take up to 1 minute to share any gratitude or anything special they’d like to share with the group :)
At 1:30 the event is over :) If people want to stay longer and socialize, I welcome them to do so :)

Boundaries and conditions of the event:

This is a sober group and sober event. To keep social connection flowing and sober, events are sober. If there is any alcohol, or mind altering substance present, I’ll ask people to put it away, dispose of it, or leave the event.
Could you keep conversations loving, open-hearted, and respectful of OneSelf and others? If there are any debates or arguments about controversial topics like politics, I’ll ask people change subjects, else I’ll push them out of the event. Also, if anyone puts anyone else down for any reason, I'll push the person who treats people unkindly out of the group :)
Could you leave the event venue as nice as, or nicer than, you found it? This entails things such as, putting back chairs, or picking up all your stuff as you leave. If you purposefully litter or damage a place we are at, I’ll ask you to leave and I won’t welcome you back.

My personal priorities of intent within this Meetup event (other people’s priorities can be different than mine):

  1. Growing Self, Love, Joy, Life, Truth, and Trust in my life :)
  2. Growing Relationships and Connection in my life :)
  3. Growing Romance
  4. I am looking to connect with a long-term romantic partner (female) :)
  5. Growing Family
  6. Growing Friendship
  7. I am looking to make long-term, quality friendships :)
  8. Discussing Literature and Poetry :)
  9. Sharing Poems and Excerpts of Literature :)
  10. Making Poetry together as a group
  11. Making Poetry individually and sharing it :)
  12. Speaking as much Italian as I can with others :)

Feedback or Suggestions:
If anyone has any suggestions to offer I, I invite you to consult I in person, or message I in the Meetup App messaging feature :)

Backup Activity or Cancellation:
If things don’t go according to original plan, and the original plan is no longer an option, then I will post a message on the group Meetup page about a backup activity or canceling the event altogether.

Grazie e Tanto Amore,

Nigel Marabello
