New Meetup: Winetasting at Tammy's aka: There is NO Such Thing as White Zin

From: Gary
Sent on: Friday, July 16, 2010 12:12 AM
Announcing a new Meetup for The Twin Cities Night Life Meetup Group!

What: Winetasting at Tammy's aka: There is NO Such Thing as White Zin

When: Sunday, July 25,[masked]:30 PM

Where: Tammy's Place
832 22nd Ave NE
Minneapolis, MN 55418

The Overview
Spend a Sunday afternoon (well a couple hours at least) doing one of my favorite things, and what should be one of yours - drinking wine. This time we'll concentrate on one varietal: Zinfandel, and we'll taste in flights so we can compare.

The Details
Everyone brings a bottle of their favorite zin or one they'd like to try, and a side dish to share. Each person will have several glasses in front of them. Probably 4, but the exact number will vary depending on how many glasses I can come up with and how many people show up. Assuming 4 glasses / person, we'll pour 4 bottles at a time. I'll start discussion with a little talk on zinfandel and maybe a couple of different styles that I'll bring. Don't worry, it'll be a VERY little talk cause we got some drinking to do. We'll do a little comparison, then we'll move on to another flight. As we pour, we'll then go around the table and each one of us can talk a little about the wine he or she brought. We'll continue this until the wine is gone, or we're all laying on the floor, whichever comes first.

The Cost
Free event, but I'm going to bring 2 or 3 bottles and I'm sure Tammy is going to cook up more than her share of food, so a small donation to help out on the costs would be appreciated. We'll have a hat or bucket somewhere.

The What to bring

Kinda covered this in the details. Here's a hint in case the title didn't clue you in: This is a zinfandel tasting. Zinfandel is a RED grape.

The Headcount
Since we'll be pouring some of each wine for everyone, and a bottle only goes so far, I'm going to limit this to 12 people.

That's it. If you have any comments, any wine buying tips, know of any sales, etc. please post in the comment section.

See you Sunday.
