What we’re about
Nihongo Café is a relaxed, low-pressure meetup for adults who want to practice speaking and reading Japanese in a friendly, social setting.
We meet about once a month for an hour to chat in Japanese. Sometimes we might read a short article together (often from NHK Web Easy). This is not a class—there’s no homework, no tests, and no pressure to be perfect. We will all be learning together.
Anyone who wants a fun, casual space to use Japanese is welcome, and English is welcome when needed. Native Japanese speakers who enjoy relaxed conversation are also very welcome to join. Occasionally, we’ll do cultural events like seeing a Japanese movie together or maybe enjoying some Japanese food.
Meetups may take place at coffee shops, pubs, libraries, or other casual public spaces. Come as you are and enjoy Japanese at your own pace.
