More info to follow, but here's the basic idea: a regular series of live readings and social gatherings for writers of all kinds: fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, hybrid, unclassifiable. Once enough people join, I plan to rent an event space and start hosting live reading events. Although English is my first language, the readings will be offered in a mix of Dutch, English, and whatever else comes our way.
What's a live reading? Well, basically you get up in front of a cozy space and read something you've written. That could be a poem or an excerpt of a story or book -- whether in-progress, unpublished, or published. It absolutely doesn't have to be rigid, intimidating, or boring. A reading can take many forms! It should be fun and welcoming, above all.
About me: Alongside my job as a social scientist, I'm very active in the literary world as a (primarily) fiction writer and editor of an online literary magazine. I'm hoping to find/co-build a community of writers here. And I mean 'writer' in the least gatekeepy way possible. If you write, you're a writer.
