Welcome!

We are glad you've joined the NJ Singles Aged 50+ Hikers & Socializers group! Please read the About Us section of our page. We are an easy-going group who love to hike and do other activities. You MUST be 50 or over, and NOT married to be part of this group (divorcing is OK).

Some of our events (hikes, bike rides, etc.) are strenuous. Read the event description fully. Most of our hikes are moderate (4-7 miles, hills, rocks, maybe a bit of rock scramble). For your very first hike with the group, contact the hike leader so they can let you on even if you're on the waitlist (first hike only). Our hike leaders are volunteers who love to hike, not professionals with training in first aid.

Dogs are only allowed on specifically marked "dog friendly" events. No smoking in any NJ parks. All events are "at your own risk" and the organizer and event host take no responsibility for the outcome of your participation in group events.

$5.00 annual dues are required AFTER 30 days, so this should give you the chance to join a few activities and see if this group is a good fit for you. After that, dues are your responsibility to maintain. It's easiest if you set up a credit card for automatic payments; if your dues are not paid, Meetup will remove you from the group, I have no control over that.

Maintain your RSVP properly. Use the "Edit RSVP" to remove yourself from an event if you're not 100% sure you will be there; people on the waitlist would love to go but can't if you're taking up a spot. All we ask is that you join us on some events and be a nice person! Our events can fill quickly so have your notifications ON. Repeated "no shows" will have you removed from the group.
