NJSTMR - NJ Sport Touring Motorcycle Riders

• 8:30 AM: KSU (Kick Stands Up)

1. Please be on time, gassed-up, geared-up, and ready to go.

2. Skill Level: Intermediate/Advanced. A minimum of 1 year of MC riding experience, and a fair amount of talent, is required.

3. Pace: Brisk/Spirited. This ride is not for beginners, cruisers or tourists.

4. Length: +/- 200 miles.

5. Duration: +/- 6 hours.

6. Destination: The destination and Calimoto route instructions will be posted in the Comments section 1- to 3-days before the event.

7. Gas/Rest Breaks: Every 1- to 1-1/2 hours.

8. Food Break: At an interesting lunch establishment.

9. Weather Permitting: The event will be cancelled if there is more than a 30% chance of rain forecasted. Carrying rain gear is recommended.

★ SAFETY GUIDLINES ★

1. Rider Meeting: Route, stops, signals, communication and group rules will be reviewed.

2. Signals and Communication:

• Thumbs Up = You are all set and ready to go.
• Three Short Horn Beeps = You are not ready, and you want to get the group’s attention.
• Toe Point = Alerts the following rider of road debris or pavement irregularities.
• Pat Pat Pat w/ Hand on Top of Helmet = You see the PoPo.
• Pat Pat Pat, Palm down, Arm at Side = Slow Down.
• Left Arm Out, Palm Down, Fist ‘Up/Down’ Movement at Wrist = Comfort Break
• Three Short Horn Beeps and a ‘Cut Throat’ w/ Hand = You wish to drop out of the event.

3. Rider Formations:

• Straight Roads: A 2-column Staggered Formation will extend the following rider’s sight lines, and ensure everyone’s safety. Please stay in your L or R column.
• Following Distances: The Staggered Formation will 'shorten-up' at lower speeds, and 'stretch-out' at higher speeds, to always allow for safe stopping distances.
• Curves or Turns: Use the entire lane for curve or corner entry, apex, and exit. The road is ‘all yours’ to negotiate curves and turns, and the following rider will give you all the room you need.

4. Speed: Adhere to posted speed limits in populated areas. Drive at your own pace in rural areas. Do not drive faster than your comfort or your talent allows, but please try and keep up with the group.

5. Bread Crumbs: Not all riders have the route instructions, and we need to keep the group together. Approaching a route turn, if the following rider is not in your mirrors behind you, please pull over in a safe, conspicuous area, turn on your 4-way flashers, and wait for the following rider(s). The rest of the group will wait for you in the same way. If you don’t appear in a few minutes, the group or a designee will circle back for you.

6. Vision: Always look down the road, and never fixate on objects on the side of the road. You will go where your eyes are looking. Your peripheral vision will place your MC in the lane.

7. Stay Alert: Keep your eyes up and focused on the road ahead, on the conditions, and on the other riders.

8. A heads-up navigation app (If you don’t have Calimoto, REVER = Free) is a huge plus, and allows you to see what curves are coming up next.

9. Passing: New riders please start in the back of the pack. If you are being held up, you can pass only on wide-open, straight roads.

10. No: Stunts, Hooligans, Scooters, Trikes, Intoxicants.

11. Please do not RSVP if you are not sure that you can attend. If you are registered, and your situation changes, please cancel your RSVP. There may be a wait-listed rider who’d like to attend in your spot. For last minute cancels, please also send a message in the Comments section so we know what's going on. Habitual No-Show-ers will be removed from the group.

By electing to RSVP and/or participate in any NJ Sport Touring Motorcycle Rider (‘NJSTMR’) motorcycle (‘MC’) rides (‘events’), you are digitally signing and/or agreeing to this Liability Release & Assumption of Risk. As a condition of your voluntary participation in this group MC event, you assume all risk of personal injury, death or property loss resulting from any cause whatsoever, including, but not limited to, the inherent risks of MC riding, your negligence, the negligence of other drivers/riders, and/or road/weather conditions, and hereby release and discharge the NJSTMR group, its organizer(s), ride leader(s), and/or participants from any and all claims, demands and/or liabilities. You attest that you currently: possess a valid Driver’s License with a MC endorsement; have State-mandated Minimum Liability insurance for the MC which you will be operating at this event; your MC is in proper working condition, and; you have the skills, experience and physical conditioning required to safely participate and operate your MC in this event.
Emergency Medical, Emergency Contacts, and MC Disposition information is the responsibility of each individual, and should be carried at all times in your left jacket pocket.

• Day 2: Vermont Route 100 → Kancamagus Highway → Mohawk Trail → NJ return

• Catskills (NY Rt 52, Rt 28, Rt 30): Mountain sweepers and reservoir views
• Molly Stark Byway (VT-9): Classic Vermont curves and overlooks
• VT Route 100: Legendary fall foliage road, winding through farms and valleys
• Kancamagus Highway (NH-112): 34 miles of White Mountain twisties and overlooks
• Mohawk Trail (MA-2) & Rt 116: Berkshire curves and riverside riding

• Mileage: ~ 280 miles each day
• Pace: Spirited but safe — intermediate/experienced riders only
• Overnight: Brattleboro, VT (book your own lodging; several options in town)
• Fuel/Food Stops: Planned every ~100 miles; bring cash/card for meals and gas
• Gear: Full gear required (DOT helmet, gloves, jacket, boots minimum)
