Journey to the guilded age

We will walk a total of 5 miles and I will provide the history of Long Branch as we walk along. We will start at Franklin Lake where there is a marker for a person who changed the course of US history, we will walk through a mid century neighborhood and end up at the Shadow Lawn Mansion.

Shadow Lawn is in the top 25 mansions built between the great wars. It is from the gilded age. You will feel like you are in a grand home in Europe. The movie Annie was filmed here. Bring money in case the coffee shop is open and we can enjoy sitting in this grand home. We will also visit the Guggenheim Mansion across the street.

I suggest wearing sneakers. There may be a porta potty at the lake. If need be we can stop at a McDonald's Donalds about 40 minutes into the walk for a pitstop. We will definitely have a pit stop at the mansion because the bathrooms are special.
