Homemade UI foundation

These last few years Front-end is has been rapidly evolving with new frameworks we all 'must' adopt. Making a choice is a little maddening. Is it stable, does it have support, what about a roadmap? Do we need to retool and retrain? What do we need this new framework to do? We really should pay more attention to these questions. If we did we may realize that we don’t need as much as we thing we do. Seriously, consider if you and or your team could start constructing the basics yourselves.

Gert Hengeveld
Senior Software Consultant at Xebia

React ❤️ Web Workers

Ever wanted to run some heavy computations from your React app in the browser? You may notice your user interface is unresponsive at times, bogged down by work that could easily have been postponed. Web Workers allow you to offload operations to a separate thread, freeing up the UI thread so your interface stays responsive. Gert will explain how Web Workers can help and how you can easily communicate with them from React, showcasing from an actual project.
