Human Revolution- Process of Self Improvement - Introductory Meeting
• What we'll do
There are all sorts of revolutions—political, economic, industrial, scientific, artistic and those in distribution and communications. And there are many others. Each has its significance and, often, necessity.
But no matter what one changes, the world will never get any better as long as the people—the guiding force and impetus behind all endeavors—remain selfish and lack compassion. In that respect, human revolution is the most fundamental of all revolutions and, at the same time, the most necessary. ( Discussions on Youth, second edition, p. 256)
“Human revolution is a never-ending process of continual self-improvement. It describes a Buddhist way of life that eternally seeks growth and personal development. It is about how much we are growing and improving right now rather than what we have achieved in the past.”

The Essence of Yoga Vasistha
An ongoing Thursday evening class studying this classic Adwaita scripture. The class will be offered in a “hybrid” format – in-person instruction or Zoom (both options are available). For Zoom, you can access the class from the [classes page](https://www.thesilentway.org/gallery) on the Silent Way website.
Class includes meditation, unfolding of the text, and lively discussion. All Silent Way classes are offered on a donation basis.
Attributed to the saint Valmiki, the legendary poet of the Ramayana, the Yoga Vasistha is considered one of the most important Adwaita scriptures. Chronologically, it takes place before the Ramayana, when Rama is just a young man. He leaves the palace to see the world and returns full of dejection which mystifies everyone except the court sage Vasistha. Vasistha discerns that Rama has developed true insight and dispassion and is not merely depressed. Vasistha proceeds to enlighten him. The text is a series of stories, often filled with humor, that plumb the depths of the deepest spiritual philosophy and practice.
The text we will use “Yoga Vasistha Sangraha,” is an abridgement, condensing the text from 32,000 slokas down to around 1,600. All are welcome.

Guided Sadhana: Community Yoga and Meditation (Free and open to all)
This is the mid week reset that you have been looking for!
A free community offering offered every week at our yoga studio to welcome and serve anyone looking to have a taste of inner peace.
Sadhana is a Sanskrit term used to refer to a disciplined spiritual practice. This guided sadhana is gentle and beginner friendly. It incorporates yoga practices that will help quiet the mind allowing one to go inwards.
We will begin with gentle yoga to relax and stretch the body. Accompanied by affirmations this style of yoga (called Ananda Yoga) helps one become aware of energy flows in the body. It may be followed by pranayam (breathwork) practices to further this state of balance and deep relaxation.
Once the body is relaxed, we will quiet the mind with a 25 minute guided meditation. The simple technique offered will allow one to focus and tune into the breath as a tool to calm the mind.
The session will leave you feel refreshed, rejuvenated and calm within.
All are welcome - even if you have never tried yoga or meditation before. No registrations required and no cost for this offering. Please arrive before 7pm to be settled and ready. No need to bring anything. Come dressed in comfortable clothing. Yoga mats and props will be provided.

#### The Nature of Perception
How do we perceive things? Is the way we perceive things accurate? Does the way we perceive things influence in our experiences of happiness and suffering? What is the relationship within perception and wisdom? Could an accurate, wise, way of perceiving things be a source of well-being and freedom from suffering?
We will explore such questions from an experiential point of view, using both scientific and Buddhist knowledge of the mind and meditation, in a journey that may translate into increasing lasting happiness and a positive impact on oneself, others, and the world.
The course “The nature of perception” focuses on wisdom. It reflects on its meaning, relevance, and how it counteracts the causes of suffering. It goes deeper into the most profound aspect of wisdom: understanding the nature of reality. It concludes with the nature of mind which makes full awakening possible and it is complemented by references to current scientific understanding on wisdom and well-being and the process of perception.
