Talk Abstract
The Functional Rubyist in 2019
The Ruby Core team has been hard at work making the language function-friendly. It fits with the rise of FP's popularity in the last several years, but what does it mean for Rubyists? Can you really write functional code in Ruby? Come learn how Ruby continues to pave the way for functional concepts while maintaining highly readable and fun-to-write language concepts.

With a mix of discussion, examples, and live coding, we'll start high-level, covering the underpinnings of FP and how Ruby is (and, importantly, is NOT) functional. Then we'll dive into fun topics like currying, partial function application and tail recursion.
