Details

My fellow adventurers,
Do you enjoy getting a little dirty on steep climbs with rocky, loose footing? Are you good being fully exposed to the sun, with a 100% chance of sweat? Do you also appreciate breathtaking views?
If you answered 'yes' to all the above then the Lahaina-Pali Trail (aka The Windmill Trail) is the hike for you.

The payoff, of course, is amazing views the duration of the hike (but please watch your step). And of course we will do some whale watching at the top and view the beautiful Corral Gardens on our descent. Maybe we will be lucky and it will be overcast. ;-)

The plan is a 5ish mile adventure starting at the Ma'alaea side and hiking over the top, finishing with the beautiful descent toward the shaded Lahaina side. When done, we will shuttle back to Ma'alaea.

-WE WILL NEED A VOLUNTEER TO PICK UP SHUTTLERS BEFORE THE HIKE (on the Lahaina side). If you can pick me up (and maybe another) on the Lahaina side parking (about 15 min from the Maalaea parking, just beyond the tunnel), please post up in the comments.

--Depending on how many join, we MAY need a volunteer to help Shuttle (which means meeting me on the Lahaina side 20 minutes before the hike).

---Optional post-hike gathering at in Ma'alaea.

Where to Park
Please arrive at the Ma'alaea side parking area NLT 7:40ish and be ready to hike by 7:45 so we can beat some of the heat (and wind, and other hikers...)

Note for first-timers, this is NOT a beginner hike. The steepness and footing make this very challenging. If you have knee, ankle, back, balance, or vertigo issues, (etc.) this may not be the hike for you.

What to Bring
Good shoes! I wear Teva sandals on many trails around Maui, this is NOT one of them.
Sun protection, +/- 1.5 liters of water, optional snack, and of course your Aloha spirit.
Optional: Camera, binoculars, hiking poles...

DISCLAIMER: Each participant is responsible for their own safety and acknowledges the hazards and risks involved. The organizers are not professional hiking or snorkeling guides – they are just volunteering their time to help facilitate connections and form friendships with those that attend. Participants release all involved from any liability and agree to participate in the event at their own risk.
