The Lovely Mahana Ridge Trail
Details
It was on this trail where the idea of a hiking group, and the original name, was born.
If you enjoy long hikes up a steady incline with varied terrain, foliage, and eco-systems; and gorgeous views of the Western Mountains, the Napili shore line, and the dramatic south facing coast of Moloka'i, then this hike is for you.
We will make our way approximately 5 miles up to the overlook where we will rest, snack, and enjoy the views before turning back (~10 miles total, but feels like less thanks to all the downhill on the way back). We will pass a massive variety of tropical foliage (lilikoi, pineapple...) and maybe even experience a wild pig encounter. Note that I am NOT planning the extra few miles to include the Arboretum. Though there is an optional loop or two that can be explored.
*Note that this hike has a steady incline but with only a couple short steep spots. There will be sections of roots, rocks, branches, and about 3.5 miles in, there may be mud. There will be a mix of sun and shade and weather can be unpredictable, so be prepared for anything. please ask, if you have any questions.
