Lahaina-Pali *Thru-Hike* Valentine's Day Edition!
Details
My fellow adventurers,
Are you not sure what to do on Valentine's day? Do you prefer blisters to roses? Cardio instead of crushes? Then come fall in love with a trail that won't ghost you. Remember, love hurts, and so does hiking up hill, but at least you'll burn some calories.
I promise that you will fall in love during this hike... with the views. ๐
And of course we will do some whale watching at the top I'll bring my monocular) and view the beautiful Corral Gardens on our descent. Maybe we will be lucky and it will be overcast. ;-)
The plan is a 5ish mile adventure starting at the Ma'alaea side trailhead and hiking over the top, finishing with the beautiful descent toward the shaded Lahaina side. When done, we will shuttle back to Ma'alaea.
-WE WILL NEED A VOLUNTEER TO PICK UP SHUTTLERS BEFORE THE HIKE (on the Lahaina side). If you can pick me up (and maybe another) on the Lahaina side parking (about 15 min from the Maalaea parking, just beyond the tunnel), please post up in the comments.
--Depending on how many join, we MAY need a volunteer to help Shuttle (which means meeting me on the Lahaina side 20 minutes before the hike).
---Optional post-hike gathering at ???.
Where to Park
Please arrive at the Ma'alaea side parking area NLT 7:40ish and be ready to hike by 7:45 so we can beat some of the heat (and wind, and other hikers...)
Note for first-timers, this is NOT a beginner hike. The steepness and footing make this very challenging. If you have knee, ankle, back, balance, or vertigo issues, (etc.) this may not be the hike for you.
What to Bring
Good shoes! I wear Teva sandals on many trails around Maui, this is NOT one of them.
Sun protection, +/- 1.5 liters of water, optional snack, and of course your Aloha spirit.
Optional: Camera, binoculars, hiking poles...
