No Longer Lonely as F#CK: Understanding our Loneliness Workshop

Details

Loneliness is a feeling that any of us can have, regardless if we’re actually alone or not. Three out of five Americans say they experience feelings of loneliness often, and and on a global level 33% of people experience loneliness often throughout their life. Regardless of race, religion, social class, or gender - nobody really is exempt from feeling it at some point in our life, and some more than others.

Our feelings of loneliness can show up and tell us that we are alone or separate, even when we’re around others. Or on the opposite spectrum, when we actually are alone, our feelings of loneliness may ramp up even more and feel just unbearable.

While the statistics are rising, and people are feeling more lonely than ever before, the big question is: How do we stop our feelings of loneliness? With a constant stream of new outlets to connect people such as social media, zoom, dating apps, friend finder apps, meet up groups and more, why are we still so damn lonely?

I believe the answer in that is in truly understanding loneliness. I think we all have our assumptions about loneliness, but what really is it?

Although connection with others and community is important (we are social creatures) feelings of loneliness aren’t necessarily just a call for connection with someone else or something else. I believe feelings of loneliness are often a call for connection with ourselves, first.

This workshop will teach you that you have the power to create that community, that perfect partner, or the best friend you’ve always wanted within yourself, first.

In this 2-hour transformative workshop we will:

  • Look at how loneliness has been perceived
  • Challenge previous perceptions
  • Redefine loneliness
  • Distinguish the differences between being alone vs being lonely
  • Take back our power of choice
  • Understand why we may feel lonely
  • Understand inauthentic things we may do to avoid feeling lonely
  • Learn to identify what our individual loneliness wants/needs
  • Learn to give to ourselves what we are needing or wanting

Tools we will utilize:

  • A power point presentation
  • Group participations
  • Journal prompts
  • Visualization exercises
  • Breathwork
  • Light guided meditations
  • Zoom breakout rooms

This workshop is for you if:

  • You find yourself putting your happiness or fulfillment in the hands of others often
  • You're wanting to learn how to understand your loneliness
