What we’re about
Welcome to the Northern Colorado AWS Meetup. We meet once a month at Wolverine Farm Publick House in north Fort Collins.
This is a group for anyone interested in learning more about the powerful features and services available with Amazon Web Services (AWS). This will be a great chance to meet up with other users, architects, etc. to learn (and teach!). Whether you're passionate about cloud computing or just curious, this is the place to scratch that itch.
We sometimes chat in the Northern Colorado Tech Meetups Slack group.
Whether you're new to AWS or a long time user, you're welcome to come out, learn some new things and socialize with other AWS enthusiasts and professionals.

Real-time with AWS: AppSync and AppSync Events Websocket Service
Description
Dive into the world of real-time application development with AWS AppSync's powerful communication capabilities. This session explores how AWS provides two complementary approaches to real-time data: GraphQL subscriptions through AppSync and the new dedicated websocket service, AppSync Events.
I'll focus primarily on implementing real-time features rather than GraphQL specifics, demonstrating how these technologies enable immediate data synchronization across distributed applications.
You'll discover:
- The differences and use cases for AppSync's GraphQL subscriptions vs. AppSync Events websockets
- Setting up and configuring both services for optimal real-time performance
- Practical patterns for implementing pub/sub architectures with minimal infrastructure overhead
- Live demonstrations of real-time features in action
- Integration strategies with your existing AWS architecture
Whether you're building collaborative tools, live dashboards, chat applications, or any system requiring instant updates, you'll leave with practical knowledge to implement AWS's latest real-time communication services in your projects.
