NodeSchool reboot (beginner JavaScript workshops)

Needs a location

👋 Yay! We're back!

This is a reboot of the old NodeSchool community in Rotterdam and we'll be better than ever. I hope you didn't forget about us or if you're new, don't be a stranger. Learn how to code in a fun, interactive and social way. Let's learn JavaScript and Node.js together!

Our program

18:00 - Doors open and 🍕 pizza will be served (gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options will be available).
19:00 - Crash course JavaScript and ExpressJS (creating a web server)
19:30 - Start coding (laptop required*)!
23:00 - Cleaning up

NodeSchool Rotterdam is hosted at Hackerspace Pixelbar, which is located in the Keilewerf (Vierhavensstraat 56, Rotterdam). The entrance for Hackerspace Pixelbar is pictured here.

There is (limited) parking space available. If you're coming with public transportation: you can take the stop at Marconiplein and walk your way up towards the KFC and take a left into the Vierhavensstraat. After about 450 meters, you’ll be at our building (recognisable by the art on the exterior of the building).

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need to bring anything?
A: Well, a laptop is kind of handy to start doing some actual programming. But don't require anything else besides a good mood!

Q: Who will be there?
A: A few mentors will always be available to help you. Either to answer questions, to make some examples, to give you hints or whatever you think need to get a step closer towards your goal of being a badass programmer.

Q: How long does the workshop take?
A: It really depends on you. You're welcome to stay as long as you want or is required. But the mentors will give a hint when they think it's time to wrap up.

Q: Is any programming knowledge needed beforehand?
A: Not really. If you're completely new however, it would be helpful to check out some Youtube videos and get somewhat familiar, but it's not required. Experts are also very welcome (also to help as mentor!) - we try to make it as challenging as possible for everyone.

See you soon :-) !
