What we’re about
The Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) was founded by Astronaut Edgar Mitchell in the 1970's inspired by his profound spiritual experience while traveling back from the moon during the Apollo 14 space mission. Dr. Mitchell founded IONS to begin the scientific study of states of consciousness, distant healing, global wisdom, and psychic phenomenon. Over the years, many community groups have been formed to discuss the work in progress and to further the work. The Tampa Bay group has been active for over 15 years and is devoted to increasing the community coherence, furthering the mission of IONS, and helping to bring about a positive transformation toward a world that works for all. We join Dr. Mitchell in his great exploration of inner space. We join the Masters and Guides in this quest for environmental sustainability, social justice, and spiritual fulfillment (the goals of Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream Symposium).
