In FAANG companies DSA rounds decide whether you get a “Hire” or “No Hire”.
System Design rounds decide your level.
Most engineers know coding—but struggle with system design thinking.
They either memorize solutions or jump to components without clarity. That’s exactly what fails in real interviews.
In this session, we’ll fix that.
We’ll start with a short live mock interview with one participant to identify real gaps in system design thinking—not assumed ones.
Based on that, we’ll break down a structured approach to solving system design problems and show how to improve those gaps in real time.
What you’ll learn:
• How to approach any system design problem from scratch
• A clear framework (FR, NFR, scale, tradeoffs)
• What interviewers actually evaluate
• Common mistakes engineers make—and how to avoid them
Live exercise:
We will design a system together (e.g., rate limiter / messaging system) and walk through the complete thought process.
Who should attend:
• Preparing for product companies
• Familiar with basic backend concepts
Format:
• 10 min – Live mock interview (gap identification)
• 20 min – System design thinking framework
• 40 min – Live design exercise
• 20 min – Discussion + Q&A
About the host:
Session led by a Principal Software Engineer at Microsoft and system design coach (IGOA, Meetapro), with experience building large-scale distributed systems and conducting 300+ interviews.
This is not a passive session. Expect to think, respond, and participate.
Seats are limited to keep the session interactive.
