"This is a psychological horror story set in 1960s Vermont. It’s creepy and bizarre from start to finish, and disturbingly human."
(Literary Elephant - Book Reviews)

March 2026 showcases our first novel from our "Pairs" theme.

We Have Always Lived in the Castle, by Shirley Jackson (1962)
A gothic mystery told from the perspective of 18-year-old Mary Katherine “Merricat” Blackwood, who lives with her sister and uncle in isolation after most of their family died of poisoning. The villagers ostracize them, and when a cousin arrives, long-buried tensions and secrets resurface in this unsettling and atmospheric novel written with Jackson’s signature blend of horror and psychological depth.

The group read this back in 2016 - a ten-year hiatus, however, this classic is sure to bring back some creepy feelings!

To prepare for April, we will be discussing the book inspired by Shirley Jackson's: A Head Full of Ghosts, by Paul Tremblay.
