An Introduction to Therapeutic Touch as Self-Care with Suzanne Hale
Details
Connect with the Inner Healer within!
In this introductory workshop on Therapeutic Touch® for self-care, we will combine near-touch and self-compassion with focused intention and intuitive perception. We will learn and practice these foundational skills on ourselves, focusing on centering, the movement and balancing of our own energy, and ultimately relaxation.
As participants explore their own cues and receptivity of subtle energy, we’ll draw exercises from the book, ‘Therapeutic Touch for Self-Care’ written by Alison Cooke and Crystal Hawk.
Starting with something as basic as a smile and progressing towards the experience of our own embodied energy, participants will approach a ‘relaxation response’ - the deepening of breath, a lessening of physical, mental, or emotional tensions, and a feeling of lightness or ease.
What is Therapeutic Touch?
Therapeutic Touch® is a holistic therapy that incorporates the intentional and compassionate use of universal energy to promote well-being. Informed by several ancient healing practices, it is taught and studied in hospitals and universities around the world.
Therapeutic Touch is based on the concept that you are a complex energy field. When a person is well energy flows in, through and out of the body in a balanced and smooth way. Therapeutic Touch aims to rebalance the flow of energy as a support to the healing process. Note: Therapeutic Touch is a complementary therapy. It is not a curing treatment and does not replace medical attention.
This workshop is offered as part of Therapeutic Touch Awareness Week 2024, May 6 - 12, 2024!
What to Expect:
Understanding Subtle Energy: Explore some basics concepts of Therapeutic Touch and discover how to build your intuitive perception and experience of your own subtle energy.
Hands-On Self Practice: Discover techniques to balance and guide your own energy flow and awareness. We will focus solely on offering Therapeutic Touch to ourselves, not to one another.
Group Discussion: Discuss your experiences, cues and insights with others in small and large group formats.
Reflective Writing: Participants will be invited to journal and reflect on their emerging experience. A small booklet containing resources, exercises, and practice prompts is included.
Social Time at the End: Through these exchanges, we aim to forge connections that uplift and sustain us throughout our journeys.
