Nonfiction Writing Group B - Regular Meeting

Details
Welcome to our Nonfiction Writing Group!
I started this group 5 years ago. I was looking for a nonfiction writing group but could only find fiction groups, or fiction groups that included some nonfiction writers. With the encouragement and input of this group I completed my first book, Private Love, Public School – Gay Teacher Under Fire. Two other writers who attended regularly for a long time also completed the books they were writing.
For me the writing group has been invaluable. The obvious benefit is having other people read your work and give their input. You will get encouragement, suggestions and be able to better identify ways to improve your writing. Equally important however, is the accountability that comes by showing up with words on a page. Deadlines, even self-created ones, work. Participation in a writing group also allows you to form a connection with others who share your interest in writing.
Let’s talk process. We meet twice a month and each person can submit up to 4 pages of writing three days before the meeting date. During the meetings we start with one person’s writing, give comments and move to the next writing.
Starting this month, we will have two writing groups: Group A and Group B. Group A is full but Group B is accepting new members. Group B meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 7 pm to 9 pm EST.
If you would like to attend a meeting to see how it works, please sign-up for a specific date and write a message through Meetup expressing your interest. We will be in touch and send you the Zoom link for the meeting. Attend a meeting, meet the other writers, and see how it works.
Best wishes as you pursue your writing interests!
