Hey Everyone,
This book caught my eye as I was searching for our next read. I had considered Walden and Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, but this won out. =)
1.) Reading the entire book is required to attend.
2.) This is a friendly social group with an intellectual purpose. We will be reading this next book as a historical study of a theological concept (monotheism) and of human cultures. This is a place to bring academic ideas but not personal negativity.
I'm really excited about it, but the book is about 400 pages.... So don't sign up unless you are serious about reading it!!! Reading the entire book is required, and no-shows will be removed from the group.
Written by a former Catholic nun, the book has excellent reviews - although some say her criticisms of Christianity are extra harsh. (My aunt is a former Catholic nun... and the same is true of her as well!)
Our meeting place is in a less than affluent part of town... so if that's a problem, best stay home. =) The food is delish, but the service is uber laid back! So arrive a little early to place your order and help grab a table.
I look forward to seeing you there! =)
Comments are sent out to all members of the event as email. Please send questions or concerns to me directly. Thanks! =)
