Hi Everyone!

Well, it looks like we’ve officially out grown the house parties.

My sincerest apologies about Saturday’s party cancellation on such short notice!

And a big thank you for all the concerned emails and support!!

Seems that someone from meetup filed a complaint about our party at 3pm on Saturday (they specifically said meetup). The police showed up at our door at 7:30pm, before anyone had arrived and told us that if we still held the party, that I would be arrested for illegal assembly among other counts. Needless to say, I had to cancel.

From what I can gather ( I still need to do  a bunch of research about what is allowed), the fact that I am asking for a $10 contribution and “advertising” on a public website means that I am acting as a business and need to be zoned, permitted, etc.. I offered to have the party for free…but the police would not allow it.

I certainly had no intention of doing something illegal and understand that the police are just doing their jobs. I have the greatest respect for the service the police provide.

So, I still intend to hold events – I just need to find new locations.  I've been using the house because it allows me to charge less, have less financial risk and experiment more. Seems its time to get more official.

For the last two years I’ve been in “incubator mode”, trying out different events, testing my philosophy and getting clarity about how to launch and present the vision I’ve been holding for many years.  This vision includes a philosophy/model  I’ve developed, a new template for community and an innovative meeting space.

It’s ironic that just the previous weekend, I had been meeting with potential investors about my meeting space and had used the words “we have outgrown the house”. Looks like I might be getting a “nudge” from life to move that forward more swiftly.

So, stay tuned for a new date for the party, as well as some information about the bigger vision. I hope to see all of you very soon!
