4th of July Mendocino Camping (5 spots left)
Details
I am happy to be hosting a 4th of July event at Van Damme State Park. We are not camping on the beach, but we will be very close to it via driving.
Three miles south of Mendocino on Highway One, Van Damme State Park offers a scenic beach, a lush fern-filled forest, and year-round camping. The highway runs through the park, separating the campground and the Fern Canyon trail head to the east from the beach and parking lot to the west. Visitors can launch a kayak in a protected cove. They can explore a pygmy forest. They can hike, jog, or bicycle the splendid Fern Canyon Scenic Trail beside Little River. Of all the park system's units along the Mendocino coast, Van Damme is perhaps the richest in terms of historical resources connected with the redwood lumber industry. Its story is a prime example of the struggles and eventual failures of a small, independent lumber operation.
I will be bringing a dog, so no other dogs are allowed. Please be okay with dogs if you are going to this event. She is a sweety, but if you can't stand to be around dogs, this is not the event for you.
Everyone who RSVPs yes and has not paid will go to the not going list until they have paid. Please look in the header to see how many spots are left. No refunds for any reason, so choose to pay wisely. Price is $60 by Venmo or PayPal. Please select family and friends instead of business and services. My Venmo account is @Rachel-Michels-1. My PayPal login is paypal.me/RMichels. Message me if you need assistance.
4th of July is a popular time. Make sure that you really are up for attending so that those who want to attend can. Please don't sign up individually if you are more than 2 people. Only parties of 2 are allowed unless you run it by me. This is to create a more social environment.
Wood is not included. Please plan to bring/buy/forage(if permitted) during the trip. Local wood is best. Always be prepared for fire restrictions.
We have 2 campsites close to each other. Parking is limited and some people will have to park in overflow. Do not expect to get a parking spot if you have an oversized vehicle (e.g. extended length truck). Carpooling is encouraged.
There are no refunds for any reason. Event is rain or shine.
