Join us at this informative workshop on writing screenplays that sell on May 10, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Scott D. Roberts, produced screenwriter, director and producer, will walk the class through an information-packed workshop designed to help writers adapt books into scripts or write original screenplays. The workshop will cover:
Writing that perfect log line that says what your script is about in two lines or less
Developing the correct structure and pacing
Effectively applying tools and techniques, including storyboarding, index cards, and pacing breakdown
Tips and tricks to writing a great and most importantly marketable script to Hollywood
Networking and working the business of Hollywood and properly working the system
You will be fortunate to spend precious time with a professional who has worked in the business for 20 years.
Scott D. Roberts is the writer, producer, and co-director of the award-winning documentary, “Gas Hole,” narrated by Peter Gallagher. He is currently in pre-production on “Gas Hole 2: Getting Drilled" with partner Jeremy Wagener. He is also the executive producer, writer, and co-host of the monthly segment, “Gas Hole of the Month” which airs on FSTV. He recently had his sitcom pilot that he co-wrote, “Scotty Moore,” optioned by EUE/Screen Gems with Mike O'Malley ("Yes, Dear," "Glee," "Shameless") executive producing and just finished writing a spec script, “Hero Unleashed,” with Todd Sawyer and Scott Disharoon, for academy-award nominated producer, David Levy (“Gosford Park,” “The Player.”) He wrote, produced, and directed two reality pilots in the last three years, "Giving, Celebrity Style," starring Melinda Clarke ("Nikita," "The O.C.") and "Ted & Jason: Building an Empire," featuring the hair stylist to the stars, Ted Gibson. Due to his 20 years in the industry, he brings an interesting uniqueness to his workshops by beginning his career as an actor, a literary agent, running a production company, and now as a writer, producer, and director. He has had numerous projects optioned and/or developed by New Line, Warner Brothers, Paramount, MGM, and Columbia.
