THE HIGHLY SENSITIVE PERSON WORKSHOP: HOW TO SURVIVE WHEN YOU'RE CONSTANTLY OVERWHELMED

Do you know that highly sensitive people are thought to make up 20% of the population? Even more interesting, though we haven't scientifically studied this yet, we believe more than half of our makeup in this complex trauma group identify themselves as highly sensitive people?

While susceptibility to being highly sensitive is thought to be a genetic trait and not an environmental trait (think nature over nuture), for those who were born with thigh sensitivity, there’s an even greater susceptibility to being traumatized when there’s a lack of sufficient emotional nurturing early in life.(courtesy of Sara Ouimette)

Naturally, complex trauma and C-PTSD would lead to an overwhelm of a Highly Sensitive Person's nervous system. This workshop is designed to help individuals understand and navigate the world as a highly sensitive person, offering strategies for managing challenges and embracing their unique gifts and strengths.

In these two hours we will be:

  • Learning about the different types of sensitivity (sensory, emotional, social, etc.)
  • Defining what a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) is
  • Taking a quiz to determine if one might be an "HSP"
  • Exploring the impact of high sensitivity on relationships and communication
  • Learning to manage emotional overwhelm and stress
  • Discovering and utilizing the strengths of HSPs
  • Discussing how your sensitivity may be have been used as weaponry against you in your toxic childhood
  • Introducing various tools and techniques, such as grounding exercises, mindfulness practices, and self-compassion strategies, to help participants manage their sensitivity

Join us for this two hour workshop while we explore this topic in depth in a friendly, collaborative environment with others who might also be struggling with being highly sensitive.

COST: $20.00 per two hour session. Non-refundable

YOUR ORGANIZER: Kerrin is a 40 something survivor of a traumatic childhood with a malignant narcissistic mother. She has always been highly sensitive to touch, smell, loud sudden noises and bright lights. Her mother would mock her for these traits growing up and caused a traumatic shame about them that persists in adulthood. She's very excited to discuss these topics with other survivors in depth.

You do not have to be an established member to join.
