Nordic Influences in the Marvel Universe/Nordic Language Practice
The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, 2700 F Street Northwest, Washington, DC, USOctober’s Nordic Culture and Language Exchange Meetup event will explore the connections between the Marvel franchise (comic books, films, TV series) and the Nordic countries. Of course we’ll explore Thor, Loki, and the influences of Norse mythology on Marvel, but we’ll also learn about other connections including Nordic actors/actresses, filming locations, and music. We will then hold language practice for the second hour of the meeting. Please join us at the top floor of the Kennedy Center on 25 October from 3-5pm. We plan to have language table captains if possible for all 5 Nordic languages and will provide some (optional) suggested questions to stimulate discussion. Feel free to bring along any language tools you might want to use or work on (vocabulary lists, flash cards, books, other written texts, etc). Let me know (peterk1092@comcast.net) if you would like to volunteer as a table captain/facilitator for Danish, Finnish, Icelandic, Norwegian, or Swedish. There is an optional Marvel Infinity Saga musical concert by the National Symphony Orchestra later that same evening.
